LIGHT IN SMALL PLACES

I go searching for the light places; the small corners in creation that are transformed, unexpectedly, by piercing rays. As I walk through the land, what is ordinary becomes extraordinary.

​Zooming in, bending low, squinting, quotidian occurrences — small moments — are transformed into abstracted masterpieces of glimmering beauty.  What is the shape of the sun as I look up into the branches of a young blue gum? What are those colours, bouncing off the stagnant damn by the road — when I look closely are now they beautiful too? Forms, colours, lines, and compositions that I could never conceive within myself flood my eyes. Imagination, delight, bloom. 

In these ten paintings, brushstrokes, layers of paint, and textured lines become playful experiments of observation and imagination. Each piece is a unique viewpoint, a window displaying the diversity of the sun's rays as they shine into small corners of the landscape.
